This 8-day Mount Kailash Helicopter Tour is one of the most popular journeys for getting up close to the sacred Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar.
On the way to Mount Kailash, you will pass through picturesque hills, valleys, and enjoy stunning views of some of the world’s highest mountains. The journey includes an exhilarating flight from Nepalgunj to Simikot, and then to Hilsa, offering breathtaking views of diverse landscapesâfrom plains at 80 meters above sea level to the towering Himalayan plateau of Tibet.
Upon your arrival in Tibet, you will embark on a scenic drive to Mount Kailash. The adventure culminates in a spiritual trek around the mystical Mount Kailash, crossing the challenging Dolma-La Pass at an altitude of 5,610 meters, following in the footsteps of sacred pilgrims.

The Journey Begins
Day 1: Arrival in Lucknow and drive to Nepalgunj
Meet our representative from Trip to Kailash Pvt. Ltd. in Lucknow where all Kailash Yatris arrive. We begin a 4 hours drive to Nepalgunj (152m). We will stop enroute for tea/coffee and then continue further to Nepalgunj. In the evening, our staff will organize a yatra briefing session for all the group members. Spend the evening relaxing and preparing for the journey ahead. Explore the city on your own . We will have dinner and stay overnight at a 4 star hotel in NepalGunj.

Day 2: Fly from Nepalgunj to Simikot
Early in the morning, transfer to the airport for a scenic flight to Simikot, a remote area accessible only by air. Upon arrival, enjoy the rest of the day acclimatizing to the altitude and exploring the local surroundings.

Day 3: Helicopter to Hilsa and Drive to Purang (Taklakot)
After breakfast, take a thrilling (25 minutes) helicopter ride to Hilsa, the Nepali border town. Once all group members have arrived, Now we will cross the border into Tibet meet our Tibetan and Nepali team. From Hilsa walk through the scenic swinging bridge to cross the river and reach immigration counter at Nepal side. After completing the immigration check formalities take a short 22 kms drive to Taklakot ( Purang ). Proceed to your hotel and take rest in your room to acclimatize. Overnight stay at Taklakot.

Day 4: Rest Day and Acclimatization at Taklakot
Take a rest day to acclimatize and explore the Purang market. This is a great opportunity to purchase any essential trekking gear or personal items needed for the journey.

Day 5: Mansarovar to Darchen
Drive around the sacred Lake Manasarovar, one of the holiest lakes in the world. Stop at a serene spot for spiritual pooja, havan or meditation. Pass by Rakshas (Demon) Lake, where Ravana is believed to have performed penance for Lord Shiva. Overnight stay near Lake Manasarovar.

Parikrama Begins
Day 6: Trek from Darchen to Diraphuk
Begin the sacred Mount Kailash Parikrama after breakfast. Drive to Yama Dwar (Tarboche), the starting point of the trek. Horses and porters (if pre-booked) will be arranged here. Trek through stunning landscapes to reach Diraphuk. Pilgrims not undertaking the Parikrama can stay at Darchen.

The challenging stretch - Day 2 Parikrama
Day 7: Trek from Diraphuk to Zuthulphuk (4,835m) via Dolma La Pass (5,600m)
This is the most challenging part of the trek. Ascend to the Dolma-La Pass (5610 m), the highest point of the journey. Offer prayers at the pass and enjoy the mesmerizing view of Lake Gauri Kunda. Descend to Zuthulphuk along a relatively easier trail.

Completing Parikrama
Day 8: Trek till Darchen enter Nepal and to Lucknow
After breakfast, trek to Chongdo (ending point), a 3-hour walk. Drive back to Darchen to reunite with pilgrims who did not undertake the Parikrama. Enjoy lunch at Darchen and drive to Taklakot or Hilsa. Depending on weather conditions, fly back to Simikot and continue to Nepalgunj and drive back to Lucknow.
